Halloween Decorations Competition 2020

Wixams has already become famous for celebrating Halloween in style so last year we held a decorations competition to award the ‘Scariest House in Wixams’ for helping to make Wixams such a fun place to be. Our winners received a massive hamper worth £100 and a trophy to proudly display for years to come.

Despite the current Coronavirus pandemic we believe celebrating Halloween and bringing some positivity to our community is crucial so we’re pleased to announce we have partnered with the Wixams Events Team and we’re going to run another decorations competition for 2020!

The Prize

We want to encourage and reward your fantastic ideas for Halloween as they make our community stand out and bring joy to everyone walking and driving by. This year we’ll be awarding the winning home with a trophy and hamper donated by Budgens in Wixams worth around £100.

How to Enter

To enter, all you have to do is decorate the front of your house. On All Hallow’s Eve, our judges will make their way through all of Wixams to see whose house stands out the most. The judges will start from around 5pm and will hopefully finish by 8:30pm, so please don’t start taking your decorations down until at least that time.

Please be aware that the judging will be carried out remotely so our judges might need to take photos of your house.

Staying Safe This Halloween

The Government have not yet issued guidance for Halloween but it’s clear that the nature of trick-or-treating means people would be putting themselves and others at an increased risk of contagion. We are asking that all residents follow Government guidance on how to stay safe this Halloween, please make sure to be mindful of others and maintain social distancing whilst making your way around Wixams. We will be adding more links to this page when guidance is published.

Please note: The competition will be cancelled if the Coronavirus outbreak continues to rise and the Government announces another lockdown.
