The Wixams Community Group was first established in June 2019 and was originally created to help foster a strong community in the new town of Wixams. Over the years the group helped set up other, more specific groups which focus on individual interests and activities. The group also ran a series of projects aimed to bring people together, to have some fun and to do good for the wider community, including running some decorations competitions at Halloween and Christmas. You can see below just how much work this small team have done over the years.

A New Direction
After nearly 6 years of working to benefit the community, the group decided in April 2025 to change the core purpose of the Wixams Community Group. There are so many fantastic people in Wixams who have given up their time to make the town a better place and to serve the community. However, there have been many challenges along the way. For example there is a significant shortage of people willing to volunteer in Wixams, putting strain on the existing volunteer force as the town expands and the population grows. There are challenges with advertising too, Facebook is a useful tool, but it can be difficult to make sure the word gets out about events given how their algorithms work.
To help support the existing groups and their volunteers, the Wixams Community Group committee has grown significantly and is now made up of representatives from all the main groups and organisations in Wixams. By having all those stakeholders in a single committee (and in a WhatsApp group together) the group hopes to see better collaboration and find more ways to share news with the wider community.
The committee has representatives from the following groups in Wixams:
- 1st Wixams Scouts
- Brownies and Rainbows
