Wilstead & Wixams Good Neighbours Scheme

If you need help at home, in the garden, with shopping or occasional lifts, the Wilstead & Wixams Good Neighbours Scheme is here to help!

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who are ready to offer you assistance in a great range of ways:

  • Lifts to the Doctors/Hospital/Opticians/Pharmacy etc.
  • Prescription collection
  • Help with shopping
  • Pet care/dog walking
  • Form filling/letter writing
  • Small household or garden tasks
  • Help with using technology or computers
  • Even just someone to talk to

Please get in touch with us today to see if we can help:

Please note: At this time the WWGNS is only able to offer a limit set of services. Please contact us and we will let you know if we can help.

Donations for Lifts

If you need a lift somewhere we suggest a donation to the driver at rates below. If you need a lift for an appointment which is too long for the driver to wait they may need to make two trips and the donation should be doubled.

  • £5.00 to Bedford or Ampthill
  • £1.00 anywhere within your own village (Wilstead or Wixams)
  • £2.00 to the opposing village
  • Any further 45p per mile

Volunteers Needed

Being a ‘good neighbour’ simply means that when someone has a request, you’re one of many that will be contacted to see if you can help them. If you can then great, if not then hopefully someone else can. You’re never asked to do anything you don’t want to and you decide when you’re available.

If you’d like to become a volunteer or just want to find out more, please get in touch with us using the details above or download and complete the Expression of Interest form: Word | PDF

Wilstead Coffee Shop

The other service provided by WWGNS is a weekly Coffee Shop run in Wilstead Village Hall every alternate Friday from 2 pm. Please contact us for dates using the details above or visit our Facebook page.

Wixams Coffee Mornings – Volunteers Needed

The group would like to set up regular coffee mornings in Wixams, to be held in the village hall. To run this group a few volunteers are needed who are willing to help out each week, or alternate week. This might include setting up the tables and chairs, and making teas and coffees for attendees. If you’re able to help out please contact us using the details above.
